History:
From Bill Wallace: I founded Sonoma Products Company in 2003 after too many years in the high-tech world. It was my great hope to build a company that would allow me to pursue my passion for wood and design. I have found it is allowing me to design and build products that are fulfilling my vision for quality, affordability and the aesthetic I hoped for.
Initially I built on custom furniture, on direct commission from clients. In the first few years I also began to participate in local craft shows all around northern California. Finally, starting in 2007 I began to manufacture outdoor furniture and have expanded production to become a modern manufacturing operation selling wholesale products to the retail resale market.
Company Name:
Sonoma Products Company is named after an amazing region of Northern California, Sonoma County. We find the quality and pace of life, the landscape, the weather, the wine, the whole package, presents an ideal lifestyle and we hope to accentuate that in our products.
Handcrafted:
We strive to use production manufacturing techniques and develop designs that minimize the cost of construction. We also use some of the latest, most powerful and accurate machinery available. This ensures we can offer our clientele excellent quality products at reasonable prices.
Even so, we still consider our products to be fine handcrafted artisan products. Each product is designed with the aesthetic as the main driving force of what is created. When we do a "production run", we are still building the products one at a time. Artisan products will never have that sterile factory produced look and feel. Each product, while built with the utmost of professionalism, starts life with a character of its own, instilled as I shape it, assembles it and apply a color and finish.
Artisan Products:
Currently, we develop our product designs with the input of a select set of fellow artisans and aficionados. We use a mix of time honored joinery methods, modern methods and tools with the consult of an incredible group of cabinetry, carpentry and fine furniture craftsmen. We strive to bring our product visions to life for your pleasure.
Our greatest hope is that you can find as much pleasure in our work as we do.
Time Honored Design:
One of our primary philosophies in design is to show honor to the classics that have stood the test of time and somehow captured a part of our humanity. Things like Craftsman or Art Deco era furniture designs or even the Greek, Tansu and Gothic architectural elements from which they were derived.
Additionally, we strive to extend these classic designs into the now and instill a new simplicity to hopefully add some calming influences to our frantic 21st century lives.
